The Energy Department directed PJM, working with Constellation, to keep Eddystone Units 3 and 4 available through November 20, 2026. Each dual-fuel unit has about 380 megawatts of capacity, preserving roughly 760 megawatts that had originally been scheduled to retire on May 31, 2025. The order retains dispatchable capacity while regional load and reserve concerns remain elevated, but temporary availability is not the same as continuous operation or favorable economics. Actual dispatch, cost recovery, maintenance expense, fuel cost and emissions cost were not disclosed. The ninety-day support can expire, and legal challenges to emergency authority or the units' eventual retirement remain material risks.
